We offer several lens materials to our patients. Glass and plastic have been around for many years and are still used some today. Polycarbonate and hi-index plastic lenses have become very popular options because they are thinner and lighter in weight than ordinary plastic. All plastic lenses that we dispense come with a scratch-resistant coating and are treated to protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays.

You may decide that you want a special anti-reflective coating (glare-free). This particular coating removes all distracting reflections, thus enhancing the appearance of the lens. It is also effective in reducing eye fatigue for computer users and those who do a lot of night driving.

You may also choose to have lenses that darken in the sun. While Photogrey Extra lenses have been utilized for quite some time, Transitions are becoming the choice of many. These lenses are available in lightweight plastic that start out with a light tint indoors and change outdoors to varying degrees of darkness. The original Transitions lenses are designed primarily as a comfort lens while being worn outside; however, some of the newer Transitions lenses serve quite well as regular sunglasses. Ask our staff which would be the best option for you.

Progressive lenses (no-line bifocals) provide the benefit of a standard bifocal but add the feature of continuous clear vision at all distances, including mid-range (arm's length). NWECP received an award presented by Varilux Corporation for their success in fitting these lenses.

With the increased use of computers, many patients who once had great vision are now experiencing symptoms of eyestrain, neck and head aches, or reduced vision. We can supply glasses that help relieve these symptoms. Be sure to tell us if you use a computer.
